iZak™ Firmware Update - PC

Prelimainary Note :  Firmware is the software stored in iZak™'s Flash memory that contains the programs running in your device. These programs remain stored even when the system is switched off.

Upgrade Procedure :

Before you start connect your iZak™ to your TV set, navigate to 'Settings' menu and select 'Firmware'. Press ENTER on your remote and check the current firmware version which appears on the right side of the screen. If your current version of the firmware is the same with the latest release (see above) then your iZak does not need to be updated. Otherwise, follow the steps described below.

  1. Download the latest Firmware for your iZak™ (see above).
  1. Extract the zip file ("iZak_Latest_Firmware.zip") to the iZak™ directory "Firmware"

  2. When asked, overwrite the existing binary files

  3. Unplug your iZak™ using ONLY safe removal process and connect it to your TV set.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: NEVER TURN OFF iZakT DURING THE FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE. THIS MAY DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE. IF FOR ANY REASON (E.G. POWER SUPPLY FAILURE DURING FIRMWARE UPDATE) THE PROCEDURE FAILS, YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO OPERATE YOUR DEVICE. IN THIS CASE YOUR DEVICE MAY BE REPLACED WITH A FUNCTIONAL UNIT BY UNIBRAIN

  4. Navigate to the "Settings" menu and select "Firmware update"

  5. If your current firmware version is 1.2.x.x proceed to the next step (step 7). If your current firmware version is 1.4.x.x then proceed to step 13

  6. Press ENTER on your remote control to choose the start of the process. You can verify from the menu the revision number of the installed version and the revision of the new release. As mentioned above, the update process should take place only if the current version of your iZak™ is older than the Update Version
  7. To verify the update process, press ENTER
  8. Firmware update is in progress warning not to power off the device. However, the process bar will appear about 30 seconds after you begin the update procedure
  9. The firmware update procedure takes approximately 1 minute and once completed the following message should appear at the bottom of the screen: '

    Update successful. Power off device.'

  10. If by any chance the firmware files are corrupt because you did not follow the safe removal procedure OR the firmware you are trying to install is older than the one currently loaded in your iZak™ you will get the following error:

    "UPDATE FAILED. POWER OFF DEVICE."


  11. Turn off the device, by removing the power supply and turn it on after a few seconds. The new firmware will start operating in your device. Your new User Interface should now look like this :
  12. Press ENTER on your remote control to choose the start of the process. You can verify from the menu the revision number of the installed version and the revision of the new release. As mentioned above, the update process should take place only if the current version of your iZakT is older than the Update Version.
  13. To verify the update process, press ENTER on the following screen :
  14. Firmware update is in progress warning not to power off the device (Picture g). However, the process bar will appear about 30 seconds after you begin the update procedure.
  15. The firmware update procedure takes approximately 1 minute and once completed the following message should appear at the bottom of the screen: 'Update successful. Power off device.'.
  16. If by any chance the firmware files are corrupt because you did not follow the safe removal procedure OR the firmware you are trying to install is older than the one currently loaded in your iZak™ you will get the following error: "UPDATE FAILED. POWER OFF DEVICE." AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE BELOW
  17. Turn off the device, by removing the power supply and turn it on after a few seconds. The new firmware will start operating in your device
